Frequently Asked Question- general

If you have any further questions about our tours please e-mail your questions to anna@mongolkhaan.mn specifying your home country.

How many people can join a tour?

Talk to our travel team if you have a larger group, we may have to split you into several vehicles but anything is possible!

Small Group Sizes
Our adventures are built for small groups, with a maximum of 12 travelers on each trip. Each group is diverse, equally comprised men and women of many different ages. By traveling in small groups we leave minimal ecological impact, cause little disruption to the native life and are able to gain a better appreciation for our surroundings. Small numbers also allow greater flexibility and spontaneity: a dinner in a local home, an impromptu visit to a village wedding or a visit to a rural school can be among the most memorable experiences of your journey.

What clothing should I pack for one of your adventures?

All you need to bring is a sleeping bag and your personal items. Prior to your departure, we will send you a copy of our “Tour Tips” booklet which will provide you a list of suggested items you may want to bring on your tour. Of course an enthusiastic, fun loving attitude is always welcome!

What if I haven't camped before?

Don't worry... we make it easy! Most of our first timers actually grow to love sleeping in the great outdoors. You will sleep in high quality, heavy duty three person tents which you share with only one other trekker of the same sex. We provide all passengers with a thermal sleeping mat. For those passengers who want added comfort, you can bring your own self-inflatable air mattress.

What facilities are at the ger camp?

All our trips use both National and State park ger camps and also a wide assortment of private campgrounds. Almost all will have hot showers and toilets; some will even have sauna and hot bath, bars and laundry facilities on site while others will accentuate the natural beauty of the area and thus tend to be more rustic.

How fit should I be to join a tour?

Anyone in reasonably good health can join our tours.  Many activities on tour are optional, so you can choose them according to your fitness level. Most National Parks offer a variety of hiking trails that suit all levels of adventure and fitness. Many other activities do not require previous experience and are not fitness related.

How much money do I need to bring on tour?

Firstly, you should budget for the Food Kitty. Only US$ 5-10 per day in Mongolia. This will cover all of your meals while camping but does not cover hotel stops or when the group chooses to sample regional cuisine.
Depending on the tour you choose, there may be a few nights in hotels not included in the tour cost.

How much luggage can I bring?

One suitcase or rucksack, plus your sleeping bag, plus one carry on bag for the van. Be sure to check the weight allowance of your luggage with your airline or travel agent.

When do the trips begin and end?

All Tours depart from our gateway hotels in the morning on the departure morning and generally end between 6:00 and 7:00 pm on the final day of the tour.
For your convenience, we suggest that you spend the final evening in our gateway hotel. If you must leave that evening, we recommend that you book a flight departing no earlier than 9:00pm to allow for possible delays on tour.
