Traveling around Mongolia in four wheel drive jeeps or vans we stay in tents and occasionally in gers with nomadic families en route. This trip is not for those who want luxury – there are no facilities so you will need to wash with bowls of water. We visit some truly spectacular regions, go hiking in the mountains, stop at small rivers and streams to fish or swim, relax in the sand dunes of the Gobi, visit volcanic lakes and drive across the magnificent Mongolian grasslands.

3 weeks private Camel Tour Gobi – the Mongolkhaan Experience
In August 2010 I visited Mongolia for a 3 weeks camel riding in the Gobi desert organised by Mongolkhaan. Since it was difficult to find other participants for this special tour I did the tour exclusively with a small team of Mongolkhaan (guide, camelman + camels and driver).
The tour started in the near of Yolin An and led us around the Gurvan Sayhan Mountain along Bayandalay - Khongoryn Els - Bulgan - Bayanzag (Flaming cliffs) - Moltsog Els. Finally after 17 days and 450 km on a camel back we returned in good shape back to the starting point near Dalanzadgad.
The tour was a unique experience and I can highly recommend it to every passioned rider. I can not express enough my thanks to my companions who where like friends to me. Many thanks also to Urna (Anna) and the team of Mongolkhaan who realized this special tour. I can highly recommend their experience and reliability.

Tourist Ger camp: (Ger facilities) During your trip in the countryside, you’ll overnight in ger camps. Make yourself comfortable in a ger (2-4 beds). Each camp has a ger restaurant. Most camps are equipped with toilets and showers with other possibilities for entertainment.
Guest Ger camp:: (Ger facilities) During your trip in the countryside, you’ll occasionally overnight in guest ger camps. It’s more casual or less touristy decorated comparing to tourist luxury ger camps. Most guest ger camps are not equipped with flush toilets or hot showers.
by the nomadic family: Traditionally, nomad families used to leave 1 extra ger for random visitor’s sudden visit. Nowadays its a fading tradition but has found new life as tourists have started coming to Mongolia. Providing a sustainable extra income to nomadic families and providing for meaningful cultural exchanges, spare gers in the countryside are far more interesting to stay in than some tour camps.
Japanese van: (4 wheel vehicle) over the last several years Japanese vans have been successfully running for tourist services all over Mongolia. They have good air conditioning systems and are more comfortable to ride in which is appreciated by many of our clients.
Purgon (Russian van): Purgon is a grey colored van guaranteed for Mongolian bumpy roads and it holds 7 people easily. It’s suitable for longer trips and for those who are keen to save some transport expenses. We would suggest the van if you are heading off into remote areas such as western Mongolia or the Gobi.
